A Souther Man

At Happy Dog University, professors in the social sciences talk about cool stuff while you drink beer and eat hot dogs. Tonight, Mark Souther, a history professor at Cleveland State University, does a deep dive into the Cleveland tourism industry: specifically, how the city went from aggressively pursuing outsiders in the 1930s to basically bolstering the existential malaise of residents after the departure of manufacturing in the ’70s. Souther is a young guy, and word on the street is he’ll have tons of brochures, marketing materials and various show-and-tell items to keep you stimulated. Point is: #ThisisCle isn’t all that revolutionary. Like all the regular reading series at the Happy Dog, this one’s free and open to the public. It starts at 7:30. (Allard)
