It takes great skill for an actor to transform himself from one person to another. But becoming another species entirely is an even bigger challenge, and that's what Pat Miller accomplished in last year's production of Bat Boy at Blank Canvas Theatre. From the opening moment, when he was suspended upside-down from a crossbeam high above the stage, Miller captured the scary yet strangely cuddly character of this hybrid creature named Edgar. By the end of the evening, the audience was clearly ready to invite Edgar to, um, hang out any time.
