Slavic Village is finally starting to get its due. The housing crisis may have brought a plague to the beloved, historic neighborhood, but the folks who stuck around (and plenty of others not living in the neighborhood) have been quietly (and not so quietly) making great strides to return Slavic Village to its lost grandeur. That includes the people behind Elevate Gallery, which is housed in an old funeral home and funded by a variety of residents and benefactors. It's not the first neighborhood you think of for art galleries, but Elevate is poised to help change that.
