Tracee Patterson,
Dobama Theatre

Chances are, it would ruin your day if you found out your husband was banging a goat on the side. But this scenario is at the heart of The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, an Edward Albee play with a premise a lot better than its script. Still, act two of this three-part play focuses on the reactions of Stevie, who has just learned about her old man's barnyard dalliance. And Tracee Patterson made every moment of it ring true. Swerving from disbelief to sarcasm to blind fury, Patterson played this emotional sequence with the control and precision of a master. Sure, she tossed furniture and threw some pottery around, but she never lost the through line of Stevie's devotion to her marriage and a man she thought she knew.
