Caribou Coffee on Detroit Road officially closed its doors late last week. The location, which has been in
business for many years, closed abruptly.

Caribou spokesperson, Megan Framboni explains, "We carefully evaluate a store prior to closing to
ensure that we are making the right decision; unfortunately in this case the Rocky River store closed due to the end of its lease". They reinforce that Caribou Coffee is still a strong brand in Northeast Ohio referencing their remaining nine Cleveland area stores, including the store in Rocky River on Hilliard.

Bad timing would have possibly left their employees without a job during the holiday season, but Caribou "Is happy to say that we were able to place all existing employees in surrounding Caribou Coffee locations.
Most team members were long standing employees with Caribou, and wanted to continue their career with us." states Framboni.

Within a small stretch of that street Caribou Coffee, Starbucks, and the new kid of the block Erie Island
Coffee all have set up shop. Erie Island Coffee, lead by local entrepreneur Alan Glazen made a statement when they set up shop right between the two largest coffee house brands in the region. "People
thought we were crazy to open between Starbucks and Caribou", explains Glazen. "We took them on and new someone needed to be the winner. In fact, this weekend we had our biggest sales to date after Caribou closed". Glazen is not gloating about the closure, but points to the
continued uprising of local brand support.

Long live the local brand!
