Boys Don't Cry: Film Screening and Discussion

Wednesday, June 18, 7pm; $5 general A dramatization of the real-life story of Brandon Teena, a transgender man (played in the film by Academy Award winner Hilary Swank) who was beaten, raped, and murdered by his male acquaintances after they discovered he was anatomically female, Boys Don’t Cry explores the themes of freedom, courage, identity and empowerment. Jacob Nash, Founder and President of the Board at Margie’s Hope, leads a brief discussion after the film. Directed by Kimberly Pierce; co-written by Andy Bienen. (USA, 1999)
