Ponytail are the weirdest jam band you'll ever hear. They don't hold any special reverence for the Grateful Dead or look like they stopped buying calendars in 1969. But they play six-minute songs with titles like "Flight of- Fancy" that gain both momentum and significance as they build. On their third album, the Baltimore art-punk quartet stretch out even further into the corners, poking around their pockets of noise. The opening "Easy Peasy" combines world-music rhythms, overdriven synths, and big arena-style guitar moves, all while singer Molly Siegel stitches together a series of sounds that may or may not be actual words. And that's Do Whatever You Want All the Time's most accessible song. — Michael Gallucci
