Cheryl, I believe that Captain Penny promoted the APL. I had adopted 2 siamese cats and a "Dick Goddard" dog from there. I lived in Mantua at the time I adopted the dog and the Fire Dept. recognized him - he rode the fire truck for the Memorial Day parade!! Happy Birthday APL!!!
