Cowboy Soul, a new, playful cabaret-ballet, features a collaboration between Verb Ballets and the Elements. The night will start off with two dancers combining some Old West swagger with classical ballet to the tune of cowboy songs; their airy movements will then lead into two classics (Wings and Aires by Heinz Polls and Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 by Bach). George Crumb’s Vox Balaenae will then be presented with a performance inspired by whales, and the night will end with the premier of a piece inspired by the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, capturing the aura of mystery surrounding this famous shipwreck. The event begins at 8 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre. Tickets start at $25 and seating is limited, so you want to call early. (Liz Trenholme)
