Star-Spangled Spectacular

When: Mon., July 1, 5 p.m. 2013

Now in its 24th year, the Cleveland Orchestra’s annual sojourn to Public Square for a Fourth of July concert brings thousands of people into the city. This year’s program, which takes place tonight from 5 until 10, will feature a number of the usual patriotic tunes. But the orchestra will also play music from Superman in honor of the comic’s 75th anniversary and will also include selections from Toy Story to honor Randy Newman, who was recently inducted into the Rock Hall. Those ubiquitous food trucks will be on hand and the event will conclude with a fireworks show. William Eddins, a guy who regularly blogs about the classical music scene in the States, will conduct.
