Teen Fantasy Author in Chagrin Falls

When: Wed., June 6 2012

How do you go from being a registered dietitian in Akron to holding a spot as a New York Times best-selling author? Hey, if we knew, would we be here? You’d be better off asking Cinda Williams Chima: a former dietician who has forged a successful second career as the author of young-adult fantasy novels. (So far, she has two multi-book series: the Heir Chronicles and the Seven Realms. Both have hit The NYT’s best-seller list.) The native Northeast Ohioan recently relocated to Chagrin Falls. That snagged her a berth on the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre’s annual speakers’ series, Hear Who’s Here, wherein notable local artists are showcased. Chima — who scored the 2008 Award for Fiction from The Lit: Cleveland’s Literary Center — will be spilling the magic beans about what it’s like to write and publish teen fantasy fiction at 7 p.m. this evening in the River Street Playhouse in Chagrin Falls. Tickets are $12 by phone or online. Proceeds go to support the community theater.
