Update: Machine Gun Kelly kept it real again by paying his $230 fine for disorderly conduct on-time, according to Strongsville Patch. He sent a rep to Strongsville to hand over the cash for him. This should conclude all updates on flash mobs and Machine Gun Kelly.

Apparently, keeping it real these days for rappers means bringing together your white suburban fans in a nice suburban mall's food court for some Chick-Fil-A, perhaps a mocha from Starbucks, and a flash mob.

Machine Gun Kelly's been blowing up since Scene first told you about him back in August 2010 [Straight Outta Cleveland]. He recently signed with Interscope Records, counts the one and only P. Diddy among his supporters, and now has been arrested in Strongsville, OH. You tell us which one of the aforementioned notes of distinction have more street cred on a resume.

On Saturday, MGK began tweeting to his legions of followers to show up at Southpark Mall for a flash mob. This was neither the sort of flash mob accompanied by synchronized dancing that Verizon has killed to death with its interminable and oft-repeated new commercial, nor the scary violence-laden flash mobs that have had some Clevelanders on edge since a string of incidents at the Coventry street fair. This was hundreds and hundreds of fans assembled with cell phone cameras ready who rushed like throngs of teenagers tend to do once MGK arrived and hopped up on a table.

Strongsville PD warned him not to do that. He jumped up anyway. All of 1.2 seconds later, cops pulled him down and arrested him for disorderly conduct. A few hours later, the mall safely returned to an atmosphere safe enough for suburban moms to buy overpriced crockpots and 60%-off sweaters, police released Machine Gun Kelly, who then wrote "If having fun with my fans ... means I have to get arrested ... then keep (pulling) the cuffs out," on his Twitter page.
