It's award season in the NBA, and like in Hollywood, that means marketing and lobbying and free stuff. In support of LeBron's campaign for MVP, the Cavs created the LeBron is Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Good website; the Nets, in support of Brook Lopez For Rookie of the Year, created t-shirts in comic book style; and the other possible winners, they have plenty of support too.
If you're a voter for one of these awards, here's just a small sampling of swag you received in the mail recently, according to this story in the Palm Beach Post:
—The Heat has started a belated campaign for Dwyane Wade to win the MVP award. They’re calling it “MV3,” because Wade, of course, wears No. 3. The press kit includes a T-shirt, a DVD and a paperweight that reads “MV3.” Not bad. Chicago sent out a press kit of “Rose-colored glasses” for guard Derrick Rose to promote Derrick Rose as Rookie of the Year and Minnesota sent out a press kit that included glass cleaner and a DVD for rookie forward Kevin Love to earns first-team All-Rookie honors. Those have been out for about a week. Postseason awards ballots are due Wednesday, although some voters have undoubtedly already turned them in. Ballots were sent out about two weeks ago.
On the upside, if you kept all the items, you could use the glass cleaner from Minnesota to clean the rose colored glasses from the Bulls.
