If there’s such a thing as a songwriting gene, no one has a better chance of possessing it than Hazel Rigby. The daughter of singer-songwriter Amy Rigby and drummer Will Rigby (of the dB’s and Steve Earle & the Dukes), Rigby plays in Chicago band Big Knife.
Decidedly more punk rock than either of her parents, No Knife plays with another Chicago band, Eyesight Television, at 8 tonight at Blue Arrow Records, the vintage vinyl store located just down the street from the Beachland.
At 6:30 p.m. Dad Rigby will dig into his record collection and DJ to warm things up. Admission is free. Oh yeah, and the poster art on the flyer pictured was drawn by four-year-old Lucy Rigby, the daughter of Willl and his current wife,
Kent State professor and singer-songwriter Florence Dore. No word yet on little Lucy’s songwriting abilities. —Jeff Niesel
