Pan-Cleveland Orquestra Plays Sparx's Last Block Party

The final West 9th Street after-work block party, Sparx Thursday Night Live, takes place tomorrow. West 9th Street from St. Clair to Johnson Court will shut to traffic, and the street’s restaurants offering a variety of specials.

Sponsored by the Sparx in the City program, which schedules street entertainers all over downtown throughout the summer, the TNL series concludes with music from the Pan-Cleveland Orquestra.

The five-piece rhythm and brass ensemble use trumpet, trombone, bass and an assortment of rhythm instruments from around the world to play African, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and New Orleans-style music.

They’ll perform from 5-9 p.m. After dark, the movie Iron Man will be shown on a large inflatable screen set up on the street. —Anastasia Pantsios
