NPR is streaming Spoon's new album, Transference, a full week before its release.

The record comes out on January 19, but you can check out the whole thing now. Transference is the first album the beloved Austin indie-poppers produced themselves.

Fans of the band will hear a lot of familiar sounds here, including some sharp, jagged power-pop by frontman Britt Daniel.

Fans may also hear a band spinning in place. But it usually takes a few listens before a new Spoon record sinks in. So give this one a few spins. It may turn out to be as good as Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. —Michael Gallucci
