Director Robert Zemeckis’ remake of the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine — a kinda live-action remake of a cartoon, I should add — just announced its Fab Four.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dean Lennox Kelly will play John Lennon, Peter Serafinowicz will be Paul McCartney, Cary Elwes will portray George Harrison and Adam Campbell will play Ringo Starr.
Yeah, Elwes (who was in the terrific Princess Bride, which you should watch again if you haven't seen it lately) is the only actor I've heard of too. The other guys have had roles in such shitty films as Couples Retreat and Epic Movie. Like this project doesn't have enough hurdles going into it ...
Zemeckis will be using that creepy 3-D performance-capture technology he used in The Polar Express and A Christmas Carol.
At least real Beatles songs will be on the soundtrack. Still, this could go down in history as the worst remake idea since Gus Van Sant's Psycho. —Michael Gallucci
