Stone Temple Pilots are using Twitter to give fans a chance to hear their new single, while simultaneously drumming up a little free promotion for their new album.
All you have to do is go to the band's website, tweet the song (don't worry, they'll hold your hand through the whole process) and "Between the Lines" will start streaming.
It's the first single from the reunited band's self-titled album, which comes out on May 25.
The song winks at troubled singer Scott Weiland's substance-abuse problems over the past couple decades. The chorus is built around an "Even when we used to take drugs" hook.
"Lines" sounds pretty much like the sludgy guitar rockers STP threw all over modern-rock radio back in the '90s.
The band also has a short tour leading up to the album's release. There's no Cleveland date, but I assume there's going to be a bigger tour this summer — if Weiland can keep his nose and arms clean. —Michael Gallucci (follow me on Twitter @mgallucci)
