Because he lived in Cleveland for 15 minutes before he got famous, Clevelanders jump on any Trent Reznor news they can get.
The latest (which is a pretty solid rumor at this point) is that he's behind a new band called How to Destroy Angels.
A press release went out yesterday announcing a six-song EP due this summer.
Theories began popping up all over the Internet immediately regarding the EP cover and the 40-second audio clip available on the website.
First of all, the woman on the cover looks kinda like Reznor's wife Mariqueen Maandig, who used to be in the band West Indian Girl.
Second, the music sounds an awful lot like a Nine Inch Nails song.
Third, Coil (the experimental noise group that Reznor adores) had a song called "How to Destroy Angels."
Plus, that press release we got yesterday was sent by the same PR firm that handled Reznor's last two NIN records.
We'll have to hold on a few more weeks to get the real scoop on this project, but from the sound and look of things, most likely the prolific Reznor is behind it. So support your boy, Cleveland! —Michael Gallucci (follow me on Twitter @mgallucci)
