Alt-rock supergroup the Golden Palominos played their first shows since the '90s recently. The group is led by Cleveland native Anton Fier, a renowned producer and drummer. On bass is another Clevelander who's relocated to NYC, Tony Maimone, who's played with Pere Ubu, They Might Be Giants, and the phenom post-metal project Battle of Mice. Also aboard was 15 60 75 the Numbers Band frontman Robert Kidney, who still lives in Akron and drew special notice in a New York Times review Wednesday.
Writer Ben Ratliff noted that Kidney "played a solo almost too good to believe, in open tuning, with masterly control of echo and feedback."
