A traditional spelling bee this is not. Instead, the "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," written by Rachel Sheinkin, is a play with a punchy, satirical take on child/adult mentoring and relationships. Following the individual journeys of 6 preteen spelling bee contestants, the play examines the relationships between the contestants and their mentors, who act like they are preteens themselves. This play is not suggested for children. Tickets are $12.50 in advance; $15 at the door. Play begins at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. on Sundays. The "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" kicks off the 4th Theatre Season at French Creek.
