A Dream Thing

When: Thu., Feb. 13 2014

Both a movie and a live performance, Floating Oceans is a fascinating multi-media cinematographic experience. As an opera in the form of a stop-motion animation film, it’s based on the works of early 20th-century writer Lord Dunsany, who delves into the dream experiments of Irish physicist John William Dunne. Writer and composer Alexis Gideon will perform live alongside the projected video. The influences of traditional folklore are evident as the dialogue and narration are expressed through lyrics and music, following the tradition of an epic ballad structure. The whole thing starts tonight at 7 tonight at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Admission is free. (Liz Trenholme)
