A Grand Tale

When: Sun., July 12 2015

Pianist Tom Selznick (Elijah Wood), has finally reappeared in the public for a comeback show during which he'll play “La Cinquette," an extremely complicated piece that gave him stage fright in the past. However, after receiving sheet music with threats written inside from a sniper instructing him to play all the note flawlessly or else, the pressure is on. The sniper (John Cusack), assures Toms that he’s not messing with him by using a laser dot that tracks his every move and also by writing threats aimed at Tom’s wife, Emma. That's the premise of the clever yet thrilling Grand Piano, a film that gets away with its somewhat unrealistic plot by use of wit, swagger and drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It has also received an award for its original score and has been overall well received by critics for its cast and its brilliantly exhilarating nature. It screens at 1:30 today at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9. (Elizabeth Manno)
