A Mother and Daughter Reunion

When: Fri., March 21 2014

Written in 1983, ‘night, Mother follows the dialogue of a mother and daughter through the course of an evening. This isn’t just some ladies chatting; daughter Jessie is severely epileptic and is informing her mother of her plans to commit suicide by morning. Jessie’s solemn, matter-of-fact reasoning plays off of Mama’s emotional pleas and the result is truly disturbing, yet very eloquent. As the play progresses, it touches on a question we all have wondered at some point in our lives: “Why am I here?” This play has received four Tony nominations and won the Pulitzer Prize the year it came out. Show time is 8 p.m. tonight and again at 3 p.m. tomorrow. It runs through May 4 at the Beck Center. Tickets start at $12. (Trenholme)
