A North Coast New Year's Eve with Michael Stanley and the Resonators

When: Mon., Dec. 31, 9 p.m. 2012

A music enthusiast since high school, singer-guitarist Michael Stanley has composed and produced over 20 albums and singles, including his famous Stagepass album, which he recorded with the Michael Stanley Band in 1977. Still going strong today, Stanley is in good form on his latest solo album, The Hang, a more mellow collection of songs that contrasts with the fist-pumping anthems for which he is known. Dedicated to his recently deceased wife, Denise Skinner, it features emotional songs such as “Breaking Down” and “Martha.” For this show, Stanley is teamed up with his band the Resonators, a group that features a few MSB holdovers. And what better place for him to play than House of Blues, which has hosted a seasonal Stanley show ever since it opened. Doors are at 8 p.m., but they’ll begin performing at 9, and maybe they’ll even kick off the year by bringing back a little “Midwest Midnight.” (Alison Barwacz)
