A Swing Thing

When: Mon., July 22, 7 p.m. 2013

The blues is dead they say. While that is yet to be seen, swing and big band blues will go to the grave today as the Lake View Cemetery hosts Tunes on Tuesday, a free summer concert series featuring the local big band group Blue Lunch, which will play today at 7 p.m. at the President Garfield Memorial. For 18 years Blue Lunch has been entertaining Ohio audiences with its mix of original and classical swing blues tunes. The group keeps the energy high and has the entire crowd up and dancing to the often-times forgotten genre. Most of the blues legends may be in their graves now or heading there shortly, but that doesn’t mean the style has been forgotten, even in the most ironic of settings. (William Hoffman)
