A$AP Rocky/A$AP Mob/Schoolboy Q/Danny Brown

When: Fri., Oct. 5, 8 p.m. 2012

On what he’s calling the “LONGLIVEA$AP Tour,” which is the same name as his forthcoming studio debut, New York-based A$AP Rocky has been climbing up the ranks ever since he put together the A$AP Mob, a collective of rappers and producers, back in 2007, when he was only 18. His YouTube videos have made him an underground sensation, and while BET recently gave him a nod for “Rookie of the Year,” the rapper whose laconic style of rapping makes him sound like he came straight outta the Dirty South, is no rookie. Nicknamed A$AP Copy, Rocky admits critics have suggested he “sounds like Andre [3000] mixed with Kanye [West] and a little bit of Wiz [Khalifa].” The critics might have a point, but until LONGLIVEA$AP actually drops, we’re willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
