Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs

When: Sun., Dec. 4 2016

Singer/actor Alan Cumming gives new meaning to the word versatile. The guy has done it all: he’s had gigs as a political maverick (The Good Wife), a “pansexual pied piper” (Cabaret), a cartoon-character voice (The Smurfs) and an “all-knowing, affable host” (PBS-TV’s Masterpiece Mystery). When he brings Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs to Connor Palace tonight at 7:30, he’ll offer up “a raucous and emotional firestorm of wildly entertaining stories — from sassy to sentimental” as he takes on songs from such diverse artists as Noël Coward, Stephen Sondheim, Miley Cyrus and Adele. The show serves as a recreation of his famous Carlyle Hotel cabaret residency, an act that began as post-show entertainment in his dressing room during the Broadway revival of Cabaret, for which he won a Tony Award. Cumming has also won Golden Globe, Emmy, SAG and Satellite Award nominations for his work in theater, TV and film. Tickets start at $10. (Niesel)
