All's Fair

When: Thu., Aug. 1 2013

When the Medina County Fair was first held in 1845, Edgar Allen Poe just published “The Raven,” and Florida became the 27th state. Crazy. Despite its history as the oldest running fair in the state of Ohio, don’t expect to hear any poetry readings here, unless they’re in the form of a country tune by Brantley Gilbert, who performs tonight at 8. Do expect to find most of the usual festival fare. And by this, I mean that you’ll see a demolition derby, a tractor pull, fireworks and bands like Arrive and Mr. Speed respectively pay tribute to Journey and Kiss. All while everyone around you munches on elephant ears and corn dogs, no less. The fair continues through Sunday at the Medina County Fairgrounds, and hours and admission prices vary.
