Anamanaguchi/Lindsay Lowend

When: Thu., May 26, 8 p.m. 2016

The technological harmonies of chip tune quartet Anamanaguchi sound as though they came right out of a video game, so it's only fitting that the band's latest venture was to drop their newest music in the form of a computer game. Capsule Silence XXIV has players shooting orcs at one moment and hunting for cassette tapes in a virtual bedroom the next, which, when found, reveal a set of melodic, electronically-layered songs the band hasn't released in the past. Band-video-game partnerships seldom seem to produce anything memorable, but in the case of Anamanaguchi, the result is a creative and fun way to release a "virtual album." (Jacob DeSmit)
