Cleveland Play House associate artistic director Seth Gordon's busy season will also be his last here. Gordon is moving on to another job with the same title at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. He started at the Play House in 2001, and during his time here, he helped launch FusionFest. His last official day is May 25, according to the Play House's announcement Friday. One-Man Lord of the Rings: Charles Ross returns with no costumes or set for a one-man, one-hour recreation of the movie trilogy. April 14-18.
Conviction: Ami Dayan has adapted and acts in the true story of an Israeli scholar detained for the theft of an Inquisition file about a Spanish priest's love for a Jewish woman. April 15–17.
Full Contact Schools New Play Festival: The culmination of a season-long interaction between CPH artists and selected schools. April 15–18.
New Play Reading: Stephen Belber's Dusk Rings a Bell is the story of a woman who returns to a deserted vacation home and meets a man who knew her years ago. At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 18.
New Play Reading: Eric Schmiedl's Masters of the Universe is the tale of an academic on Wall Street, working on what could be a stroke of genius or the seed of economic collapse. At 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24.
A Soldier's Tale/Catch and Release: Igor Stravinsky's spoken-word opera with dance, featuring choreography by David Shimotakahara and music by members of the Cleveland Orchestra, followed by Esa-Pekka Salonen's companion piece, Catch and Release, featuring Shimotakahara's choreography and video projection by Kasumi. April 2–25.
From Cancer to Broadway: Local African-American breast cancer survivors develop their writings into theater. Presented by Karamu. At 8 p.m. Saturday, April 24.
G dash D: Mandel Jewish Community Center 2010 Dorothy Silver Playwriting Award Winner Laura Jacqmin's story of a young couple who, upon having their first child, decide to return to their faith in God. At 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25.
