Artwood Derby

When: Sat., June 17 2017

You've heard of the Pinewood Derby, but do you know about Spaces' annual Artwood Derby? It takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and is a chance for artists and non-artists (ages 5 and up) to create their own miniature custom cars; kits are included with the entry fee. Register early to pick up a kit and decorate the cars however you'd like; the weirder and more extravagant, the better. All racers are invited to display their cars inside Spaces before the event. The Artwood Derby track is approximately 36-feet long, with a 4-foot drop. Celebrity guest announcers will call the races, cameras will capture photo finishes and results will be tallied live. After the race, trophies will be awarded for Best in Show, Fastest, Corniest and even Hottest Mess. New this year, Spaces is expanding the Artwood Derby to include a classic car show featuring cars from Artwood Derby sponsor, the Northern Ohio Region Porsche Club of America. Admission is free. Want to join in the fun? A $10 Racer Entry Fee includes a Artwood Derby car kit. Already have a Pinewood Derby Car? Racers can register for $5 without a car kit. Just ask for the "Old Skool Fee" when registering. (Usmani)
