Bach's St. John Passion

The Cleveland Orchestra’s music director, Franz Welser-Möst, teams up with singers Maximilian Schmitt, Andrew Foster-Williams, Lauren Snouffer, Iestyn Davies, Nicholas Phan, and Michael Sumuel to present Bach’s Saint John Passion, one of the few works the composer revised and revived intermittently until his death. An hour before the concert, guest speaker David J. Rothenberg delivers the lecture, “Bach, Lutheranism, and the Gospel According to John.” The performance takes place at 7:30 tonight at Severance Hall, where repeat performances take place at 8 on Saturday and at 3 on Sunday.
