Bastards

When: Sat., Jan. 25 2014

Not to be confused with Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds," the French film "Bastards" plays tonight at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. It's a noirish thriller which is set, according to the the New York Times, in a "morally bankrupt world of money, power, sex, duplicity and betrayal." A sailor's investigating a suicide and garden variety corruption and sexual abuse, so it'll be about as raunchy and delectable as anything not called Cards Against Humanity. Somebody pour some butter on the god-forsaken popcorn, am I right? The film is $9 and screens tonight at 7:05 and tomorrow at 8:35 p.m. If you're into the director, Claire Denis, you can check out her "misunderstood" film "Trouble Every Day" tonight and tomorrow at the Cinematheque as well.
