Basheer Jones

For years, local community activist Basheer Jones has been connecting with youth to help them constructively deal with their anger and frustration. In 2015, Jones visited schools to engage with Cleveland’s young people who don’t know how to react to police violence and who are afraid that they may become targets themselves. Scene has highlighted Jones’ work before — he’s the founder of the Cleveland Renaissance Movement, and ran against T.J. Dow for a city council seat in 2013 — but ever since his days on the radio he’s used his voice and his charisma to speak and agitate for positive change.
