Film Festival

The state's largest film fest celebrated its 30th anniversary this year by showing more than 200 movies by independent, foreign, and experimental filmmakers. Cinema Paradiso, Spellbound, and Born Into Brothels were just a few of the award-winning movies that made their local premieres at the annual celebration of all things celluloid. While the opening-night bash is one of the city's biggest parties -- the director and star of feel-good spelling-bee drama Akeelah and the Bee attended this year -- it's the 10 days of movies, conferences, and meet-and-greets that have fans lining up at Tower City Cinemas.
