Cleveland Metroparks' Emerald Necklace

Although shared with horses and joggers, the paved paths that run through the Cleveland Metroparks seem made for bikers. The streets are mostly shaded by huge trees ("emerald" -- get it?). The asphalt is as smooth as a NASCAR track, and there's a vast array of tire-melting downhill sections. And, unlike biking on most country roads, you're unlikely to be run down by a careening semi. No matter where you hop on (the Emerald Necklace is 69 miles, starting in Rocky River, dropping down to Brecksville, and swinging back up to Chagrin Falls), you'll instantly forget that you're just a stone's throw from urban sprawl.
