This isn't one of your dolled-up suburban delis, with coolers full of cream puffs and Muzak in the air. Hell no. Nate's is a nice, gritty urban deli, one of only a handful of such spots still existing in the city, where the world-class hot-pastrami sandwiches and luscious early-morning omelets come with a slice of attitude on the side. Looking for a chichi nonsmoking dining room, where cell phones aren't welcome? Then don't stop here. Hoping for gracious, soft-spoken service? Then Nate's no-nonsense staffers may seem a trifle scary. But if reliably good food (everything from chicken noodle soup and Reubens to hummus and tabbouleh), reasonable prices, and big-city mentality are what you're all about, unpretentious Nate's is sure to make you smile.
