North Union Farmers Market

Love beads, tie-dyes, and street musicians: Nah, it's not Haight-Ashbury during the Summer of Love. Rather, it's Shaker Square, each Saturday morning (from 8 a.m. to noon, through December 11), as the farmers and free spirits of North Union Farmers Market do their organic, homegrown thang. Not that Cleveland's former hippie community isn't well represented among the cooks, bakers, growers, and craftspeople who make these mornings less of a serious, what-shall-I-cook-tonight shopping excursion and more of a neighborhood street fair. But there are lots of other types here, too, ranging from demurely dressed Amish women to babies bouncing in backpacks.
