Greek Village Grille owner Tommy Karakostas went on to open the higher-end Greek restaurant Santorini in the Warehouse District, but this more casual eatery continues to garner mass appeal. It all starts with those great gyros, rotisserie-cooked until the flavorful meat gets charred and crispy, the perfect foil to the cool and creamy cucumber sauce. The menu is loaded with fun food, from amazing dips and spreads served with warm pita to fresh salads and homemade pastries. When we can tear ourselves away from the gyros, which come in a million different varieties, we go for the comforting embrace of moussaka, a Greek version of shepard’s pie with ground meat, potatoes and bechamel.
