Best Knights Out

Great Lakes Medieval Faire

Unlike other summer fairs, which smother community parks and church parking lots with funnel cakes and SpongeBob mirrors for a weekend, the Great Lakes Medieval Faire's 13 acres are devoted exclusively to kicking it olde school. Period-clad knights, jesters, and wenches party like its 1399 every weekend for over a month. More than two dozen performance stages feature archery demonstrations and jousting tournaments, and 100-plus vendors sell wares like handcrafted incense and shiny suits of armor. C'mon -- what other fair lets you walk around with a four-foot sword in one hand and an ample-bosomed maiden on your arm?
