The board game isn't dead yet, and in fact is enjoying quite a renaissance judging by the boxes of Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan in everyone's houses, not to mention board game bars and cafes popping up around town. Deadbox Games, a Cleveland startup, is hoping to ride that wave, after launching its first board game, Alestone, in February. A game of strategy that uses a cloth board, stones and a six-sided die, the object of Alestone ($35) is to capture your opponent's beer using the stones to get there. But parents shouldn't fret: Alcohol is not provided with the game nor is it a requirement (there are special rules for those 21 and over). Moving forward, founder Frank Tedeschi wants to continue to design games that help grow the popularity of board games. Sign us up.
