Best Night on the Town

Laid-back and lived in, Brendan Ring's Nighttown channels a vibe that is part Irish pub, part music club, and guests quickly get hip to dividing their attention between a plate of creamy Dublin Lawyer, say, and the stylings of such musicians as renowned Cuban jazz pianist Chuchito Valdes. Sure, the sight lines sometimes suck, and the dining chairs can get mighty hard by the time bass-guitar virtuoso Michael Manring finishes a rambling set. But then again, that intimacy -- almost as though your obscure musical idol is playing in your very own dining room, annoying relatives and all -- is one of the things we love most about Nighttown, making it our destination of choice whenever we yearn for our own little night on the town.
