Best Place for a '50s-Style Hamburger

Memphis Avenue Drive-In

Memphis Avenue may be the area's best time warp. First, there's the Memphis Kiddie Park, a throwback to the days when kids were amused by Tilt-a-Whirls and Ferris wheels. Then there's the drive-in theater, which seems like it should be showing a Technicolor epic like Ben Hur, even when it's playing the newest blockbusters. One reason for that is the concession stand, which is fundamentally unchanged since the place was built in 1954. You can't help but feel like you've traveled back to your junior-high cafeteria: Burgers are wrapped in foil, fries are served in paper cups, and no one has heard of cholesterol.
