Adult birthday parties can be stuffy affairs. Maybe a nice dinner out, maybe a nice dinner in, maybe a whole lot of let down. Bypass the rote friends' dinner and instead point your compass toward Punch Bowl Social, a massive 27,000-square-foot adult playground that opened on the East Bank of the Flats in 2015. The mammoth complex features a restaurant, bar, bowling alley and a pinball and video game arcade along with shuffleboard, Ping-Pong and private karaoke rooms. You can't possibly run out of activities here, which also means you have plenty of reasons to avoid talking to that one annoying guy you don't really like but had to invite. The place also features a wide selection of craft beers and a stellar menu that includes items such as black-eyed pea hummus and grass-fed, hormone-free meatloaf. Punch Bowl's prime location on the river and the lake makes it easy to go barhopping along the shores of the Cuyahoga after the party winds down.
