A flooded snakehouse sounds like the setting of a bad horror movie, but that's exactly what happened at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo back in 1959. The zoo's collection of snakes -- that creepy creature most favored by little boys everywhere -- was never the same again. Thankfully, the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center in Bay Village more than picks up the slack, showcasing species ranging from tropical boas and pythons to copperheads and water moccasins. Not into snakes? Step over and visit the pettable turtles, the birds of prey, or the Walter R. Schuele Planetarium. Just be sure to let Junior have his time with the snakes, and pray he doesn't ask for a pet.
