Boasting an impressive array of amenities for a park of its size (31 acres), Lakewood Park is a perfect destination for warm-weather fun on the west side. The 9,500-square-foot skate park seems like it's always hoppin' with local young'uns. There's a fine mix of ramps and banks, and the place is welcoming even to the greenest rookies with a board. And as far as the playground goes, the nautical environs appear to be a bastion of fun for the even younger crowd all summer long. When attention begins shifting elsewhere, the park continues to beckon with everything from volleyball courts and a baseball diamond to a lakeshore promenade and a swimming pool.
