Best Regional Band

Since forming in 1992, Quazimodo -- singer-guitarist Frank Vazzano, drummer Jerry Hentsch, bassist Ed Maroli, keyboardist Lou Vogel, and singer-guitarist Doug Niemczura -- has established a reputation as one of Cleveland's best garage rock bands. The group draws equally from Alice Cooper, the Rolling Stones, and the Stooges, and its drunken performances are just as rowdy as those groups were in their halcyon days. On Quazimodo's latest CD, last year's Magna Vox, former Dead Boy Jimmy Zero lends a hand, playing guitar and singing on several tracks. The group, which plays regularly at local venues such as the Grog Shop, the Euclid Tavern, and the Beachland, and regionally in Columbus and Pennsylvania, plans to release a cassette single called "Here Comes the Bang" next.
