In 2006, Playhouse Square, Cleveland's downtown complex of historic theaters, made it easier for those on a budget to attend its Broadway, dance, music, and children's shows for a sawbuck. The "Smart Seats" program offers $10 upper-balcony seats at a whopping 66 percent savings, and has drawn more than 50,000 patrons to the theaters, many for the first time. Last year, they added $20 main floor tickets as well. Among the shows you can see this coming season for $10 or $20: musicals Legally Blonde, Cats, and The Merchants of Bollywood, comedians Kathy Griffin and Cedric the Entertainer, Blue Man Group, David Sedaris, an evening with Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, and — yes — the Elvis Birthday Tribute.
