For expert outdoorsmen and novices alike, there's no better place in Northeast Ohio to buy equipment than the Ski & Sport Haus. While most outdoors stores are staffed by wage slaves who can't tell a cross-country ski from a snowboard, the employees at the Ski & Sport Haus are enthusiasts who test all the gear they sell. They have the experience to steer you toward a fat ski like K2's Seth Pistol if you plan to hit the crud and slush at Snow Trails, or something fast and stable like a Volkl Gotama if you're headed for the powder at Aspen. The Haus is also one of the few places that rents equipment. And nearby South Chagrin Reservation is a great place to test a pair of cross-country skis. There are two ridge lines that offer beautiful views, and if it's windy, you can tuck behind them and ski through the valleys.
